Finished Dark Song

Dark Song by Gail Giles
292 pages long
Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Pub Date: Sept 2010

Book is about:
Fifteen-year-old Ames Ford lives a charmed life in Boulder with her parents and her beloved younger sister, Chrissy. "If Mom weren't a little overcontrolling sometimes--okay, all of the time--our family would've been gag-worthy perfect," she remarks. But Ames's privileged world disintegrates when her father is fired; the family members are ostracized by their wealthy friends; and they are forced to move into a dilapidated apartment in Texas owned by grandparents Ames did not know she had. Lies her parents have told and secrets they have kept bleed out each day, weakening her relationship with them. Then she meets manipulative, thrilling Marc who makes her feel secure despite his violent streak. "Mom and Dad had drained my world of color, but Marc was bringing it back. One little color at a time."

As I read this book, it took me about the first 100 pages to get into it and then once I did, I could understand Ames point of view of the major changes that were happening to her and the family. The book was different for me as it was a touch real life and that it could happen to anyone. Great story.

This book is on my want list....

New Book Bought

While I was out in Illinois earlier today before coming back home..I found this book and the cover caught my attention as I ended up purchasing it. Looks rather interesting to read! Although I must read my other stash of books first before I plunge into this one.

Right now I'm reading this book: Dark Song. So far it's interesting...different than what I usually read. A review should be coming soon.

Back Door of Midnight by Elizabeth Chandler

The Back Door of Midnight bY Elizabeth Chandler
299 pages
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Dark Secret Series

Basically the book is:
When Anna O'Neill Kirkpatrick receives an invitation from her great-uncle Will asking her to visit him and her great-aunt Iris as soon as possible, she goes willingly. She had lived with them as a child after her mother was killed in a robbery, but was then put in foster care and later adopted by her loving foster mother. When she arrives, she finds that her uncle was killed in a fire, that the perpetrator has not been caught, and that her aunt is either senile or crazy. Anna sets out on her own to investigate the murder and discovers her family history in the process. She soon learns that some family secrets are to die for.

I received this book as a Christmas gift. I've read two of her other books called Dark Secrets and Kissed by Angel which both great books. The author kept me on the edge of what was going to happen next with Anna's investigation. The story did keep me on my toes for a bit but seemed to drag a little as I myself was trying to figure out who took a part of killing Anna's Uncle. Out of the three books I've read from Chandler, I liked Kissed by Angel the best. Of course the covers are gorgeous. I still have one more book of Chandler that I need to read which is Dark Secrets 2.

Lauren Kate's new cover

Has a new cover for her next book..I still need to read the 2nd book. It's on my list to read. The cover for Passion is stunning! Go check it out at the website listed above!

My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent

My Soul to Steal
Rachel Vincent
Soul Screamers Series

I just finished this book which is a series. I started the book yesterday and managed to finish it today. The whole series are such good books! I cannot put them down because they get me hooked on what is going to happen next with the main characters: Kaylee and Nash. In this book there's a character named Sabine who is Nash's old girlfriend who wants Nash back but does she get Nash? Sabine was also mentioned in Rachel Vincent's ebook "Reaper" which is another fantastic read! I'm not sure what I feel towards Sabine, she's an unique character but she seems to be only geared towards Nash which I can understand from her point of view that's the best thing that's happened to her considering everything else around her. Also Kaylee's friend Emma is mentioned in this book as she has been mentioned throughout the series who I like. Alec who was brought into the storyline from the last book related to these series and he's a unique character as well but not sure where he'll end up. This whole book was written beautifully and the characters feel real and deal with their problems as best as they can in the book. The drama, the love, the emotions, the supernatural elements in this book are just so raw and real. I root for Kaylee as she is a brave character. As I finished the book at the end, which was rather interesting concept of how to be protected from hellions for the moment...it also leaves you hanging for another book! I wasn't expecting there to be another book as it's on my list to get. Thanks to Rachel Vincent for writing these amazing books.

The Synopsis:
Trying to work things out with Nash - her maybe boyfriend - is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can't just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn't even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification for a nightmare. She can read people's fears - and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn't above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever and whoever she wants.
